The ambitious goal of the McKinley Million Campaign is to grow the Foundation’s endowment from its current base of $750,000 to $1 million in order to enable the Foundation to continue to invest in the talent and potential of the students of McKinley High School. According to a report from loan giant Sallie Mae, the typical American family relies on scholarships and grants to cover 30 percent of college costs.  Given that the cost of a college education has consistently had the highest rate of inflation for years, the need to be able to provide scholarships to as many McKinley students as possible is a challenge that the McKinley Foundation is committed to meet.

The McKinley Million Campaign was given a huge jumpstart with an incredibly generous lead gift of $125,000 from Zippy’s Restaurant co-founder and class of 1949 alum Charlie Higa.  We will now need the active support of alumni and friends who are willing to make donations in any amount in order to make the McKinley Million a reality.
