In 1989, during the 125th Anniversary of McKinley High School, Dr. Richard Kosaki (’42), Harold Hee (’42), and Stanley Seki (’57), then Principal of McKinley, spearheaded the establishment of the McKinley High School Foundation in order to enhance educational opportunities at McKinley and to motivate students to study hard and dream big.

The Foundation’s mission is:

To promote and foster the development of McKinley High School; to grant scholarships and other assistance to students and faculty; to provide funds for school equipment and activities which contribute to improving the learning experience; and to encourage scholarship and good citizenship in the McKinley High School community.

Dr.Kosaki probably best described the purpose of the Foundation in his statement that “We are not trying to recapture McKinley as we knew it. We only wish to keep alive the spirit of learning and of community which made McKinley special for so many to us.”
