Classes "Give Back"

As alumni hold their class reunions, many of them have chosen to donate residual funds to the Foundation. These funds enable the Foundation to award scholarships to graduating seniors. Also, thanks to the encouragement and guidance of Ms. Barbara Kakuda and Neal Takamori, graduating classes have also donated the residual funds from their senior year activities to the Foundation. We are sincerely appreciative to the class members and Ms. Kakuda and Mr. Takamori for their generous contributions.

Class of 2006
While the class of 2006 have not yet held a "reunion," they have donated their residual funds from their senior year to the Foundation. The members of 2006 know first hand how important the scholarship program is and want to ensure that the students following in their footsteps have the same opportunity they have experienced.

Class of 2008
Like the Class of 2006, the class of 2008 wanted to make certain that the opportunities given to their classmates be made available to the upcoming classes. They too have donated monies to the Foundation for the scholarship program.

Class of 1969
Board of Director Members Dexter Suzuki, Keith Kurahashi & Dan Ishii are all members of the class of 1969. When they held their class reunion this summer, they encouraged their classmates to contribute to the Foundation; they were very successful on their endeavor and also donated "left over" funds to the Foundation.

Class of 2010
The class of 2010- not yet alumni but have already contributed to the Foundation! Ms. Barabara Kakuda acquired 300 donated DVDs from a friend. Senior Class offices and Ms. Kakuda discussed options regarding the distribution of the DVDs. They thought it would be a great idea to sell the DVDs as a fundraiser for the Foundation. They sold the DVDs to the faculty and staff at McKinley. in addition, a few CDs were also sold. They have donated the proceeds to the Foundation. In a letter to the Foundation, they stated, "Thank you for your support of McKinley students. Your constant generosity allows us to continue our educational goals." A special thank you to all the classes and to Ms. Kakuda, who has instilled "Tiger Pride" in countless students.

Great Aloha Run
Alumnus Carole Kai has been the engine behind countless charitable functions in Hawaii. One of her favorite events is the Great Aloha Run. It would be great is she had "Proud Tigers" register for this very worthwhile event. You may sign up at http://www.greataloharun.com
